Maillardville French Classes

Winter Session 2018

Do you want to learn or perfect your French? 

Société francophone de Maillardville (SFM) offers a series of courses in sequence to allow students to acquire basic structure and vocabulary of fundamental French.  Each level has 10 consecutive lessons in the series and advanced classes are also offered.

The cost is $160 (for 10 lessons) – including your membership at SFM.

All ou classes take places at our premises (940 brunette avenue, Coquitlam)

The Winter Session is going to start from January 2nd to March 8th, 2018.

NOTE: the French test is now directly downloadable on this page (see below).

  • Beginner Level: Every Tuesday, from 8 to 9:30 pm OR every Thursday, from 6:15 to 7:45 pm
  • Intermediate Level:  Every Tuesday, from 6:15 to 7:45 pm
  • Advanced Level / Conversaton: Every Thursday, from 8 to 9:30 pm

Description of the courses:

Beginner Level 1

(two classes available):

  • Basics of French
  • Phonetics and French sounds
  • Articles and gender of nouns
  • Auxiliary be and have
  • Verbs of the first group
  • Dialogues and reading text

– Tuesday class (from 8 to 9:30pm) 

– Thursday class (from 6:15 to 7:45 pm)



Intermediate Level 2:

  • Revision of Level 1
  • Verbs of the 2nd and 3rd groups
  • Demonstrative and Possessive adjectives
  • Learning past tense: perfect tense and imperfect
  • Dialogues and reading text



Advanced Level / Conversation:

  • Revision of Level 2
  • A classe divided into 2 parts: revision of the knowledge (grammar, vocabulary, conjugation) and a second time for conversation (read articles, debates, dialogues etc.)




We ask every new student to take a TEST to determine the best class that suits you (unless you are a Beginner or were registered to one of our class sessions before).

* We reserve the right to cancel a class prior to the beginning of the series if we do not receive a sufficient number of registrants for the class (minimum of 7 students per class). If a class is cancelled by the SFM, registration fees will be refunded unless students can transfer to another class.
