C'est en 2009 que Maillardville a fêté son centième anniversaire. La Société francophone de Maillardville a désiré souligner ce centennaire en organisant de nombreuses activités tout au long de l'année. Parmi celles-ci: la Veillée du jour de l'an, une messe commémorative, la réalisation du livre Maillardville, 100 ans et plus, sans oublier le gala Le Rêve d'un Village, qui a eu lieu le 3 octobre dernier.
Festival du Bois 2009 : another success
The 2009 edition of the Festival du Bois de Maillardville was a big hit again this year as thousands of francophones and francophiles alike flooded Mackin Park in Maillardville in order to celebrate Francophone culture in a party atmosphere.
Johanne Dumas, Executive Director of the Société francophone de Maillardville, calls the event "a clear sign that French culture and language are alive and kicking in British Columbia and that it reamains of considerable interest to the anglophone community".
It all points to another great success in 2010. See you there!
